DOHA (AA) - Turkish Deputy Prime Minister and Government Spokesperson Bekir Bozdag visited a Turkish military base in Qatar on Monday as part of his official tour to the Gulf state.

During his visit, Bozdag applauded the Turkish military’s successful missions inside the country and abroad.

“The Turkish military has fulfilled major tasks for the security, tranquility and peace in Turkey,” he said, referring to the fight against terrorist organizations, including PKK, DHKP-C, Daesh and Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO), both inside the county and abroad.

Bozdag added that Turkey's Euphrates Shield and Olive Branch operations in Syria struck down all attempts to divide Turkey and ensured the country's defense and border security.

"We are proud of our army both at home and abroad," he said.

Bozdag will visit the Doha office of Yunus Emre Institute and participate in the opening of Qatar National Library.

Doha and Ankara signed a defense agreement in 2014 under which Turkey established a base in the Gulf country at the request of the Qatari government.
