Dorm fire injures 13 students in southern Turkey

ADANA, Turkey (AA) - At least 13 students were injured in a girls' dormitory fire Tuesday in the southern province of Adana, a local governor said.

Adana Governor Mahmut Demirtas told reporters that a total of 28 students were staying at the secondary school dormitory when the fire broke out.

"According to initial reports, at least 13 students are injured. Yet there have been no reports of fatalities so far," Demirtas said.

He added that some of the injured students were affected by the smoke and some of them had been wounded while trying to escape the burning building.

The building has since been evacuated while fire investigators are trying to determine what caused the blaze.
