DRC: 20 arrested over massacre in North Kivu
30 civilians were killed in attack on eastern village of Luhanga in November

ARU, Democratic Republic of Congo (AA) - Army and police in North Kivu, in eastern Democratic republic of Congo have arrested over 20 men suspected of having participated in the killing of 30 civilians in the eastern village of Luhanga last week.
The killings were reportedly carried out by a militia group called Mayi Mayi Mazembe on Nov. 27.
According to police officer in north Kivu, Felix Mbere, the army and police carried out the arrests after investigations in the villages of Luofu, Kirumba, Kanyabayonga and Luhanga.
''We have arrested over 20 people who are suspected to have been involved in the killings in Luhanga last week,” said Mbere.
He said that one of the arrested is a local leader of the village of Luofu, adding on that he will be tried by a military court.
Mayi Mayi Mazembe is among the various militia groups in North Kivu responsible for attacking civilians and looting their property.
