Dutch court tells authorities to fund Islamic school
Long-running court case sees Islamic school win state backing
By Abdullah Asiran
THE HAGUE, the Netherlands (AA) - The highest administrative court in the Netherlands ruled Wednesday that the education ministry should fund the country's second Islamic school.
The Council of State said the ruling should be implemented by the ministry by August.
In 2011, the Amsterdam Islamic Education Foundation applied to open an Islamic high school but the ministry canceled the permission they had previously approved.
The foundation sued in 2015, and a local court ruled in its favor.
The Netherlands's only Islamic school, Avicenna College, is already operating in Rotterdam.
