E. Europe, Central Asia see rising COVID-19 numbers

Belarus sees 958 new cases over last 24 hours, Azerbaijan reports 101, Moldova 192 and Uzbekistan 30

NUR-SULTAN, Kazakhstan (AA) - More coronavirus cases and deaths were reported Friday in countries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

Belarus recorded 958 more confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 27,730. The country has conducted a total of 321,705 tests, while the death toll stands at 156.

The number of cases in Kazakhstan rose to 5,689, said the country's Health Ministry. The death toll rose to 34, while a total of 2,639 people have recovered.

Azerbaijan reported 101 new cases, bringing the total number in the country to 2,980. The number of recoveries reached 1,886, with 36 deaths, according to the Health Ministry.

The number of cases in Uzbekistan rose by 30 to reach 2,682, while the death toll stands at 11. The country has carried out a total of 460,000 tests.

Tajikistan registered a total of 1,118 cases, while the death toll in the country rose to 33.

In Georgia, the total number of virus cases rose to 671, while as many as 393 patients have recovered. The country has so far reported 12 deaths from COVID-19.

In Moldova, the number of COVID-19 cases rose to 5,745 with 192 new cases over the past 24 hours, including nine healthcare staff. So far, 202 people have died of the virus in the country.
