ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkish e-commerce platform Trendyol announced it set up a webpage enabling international contributions for non-governmental organizations working on the site of two powerful quakes that last week jolted 10 provinces in southern Türkiye.

"We have received many messages globally, asking how to help the victims of the earthquake. Trendyol launched earthquake.trendyol.com to enable international visitors' contribution to NGOs and authorized disaster relief activities sending supplies directly to impacted cities," the platform announced on Twitter.

Noting that all of its products and items on the webpage support the Earthquake Solidarity Campaign, Trendyol said that users outside Türkiye who want to contribute can purchase much-needed items and digital support cards from the website without needing to register on the platform.

The webpage further noted that support provided will be delivered to the impacted areas in coordination with Türkiye's Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD).

"Trendyol does not earn any commission from these products, which we offer for sale with free shipping and discounts, without any financial benefit," the webpage added.

Last Monday’s magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 earthquakes, centered in the Kahramanmaras province, affected more than 13 million people across 10 provinces, also including Adana, Adiyaman, Diyarbakir, Gaziantep, Hatay, Kilis, Malatya, Osmaniye, and Sanliurfa.

At least 29,600 people were killed by the two strong earthquakes, according to the latest figures.

Several countries in the region, including Syria and Lebanon, also felt the strong tremors that struck Türkiye in the space of less than 10 hours.

More than 233,000 search and rescue personnel are currently working in the field, according to the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD).
