Egypt army chief-of-staff meets UK intel chief in Cairo

CAIRO (AA) - Egyptian Army Chief-of-Staff Mahmoud Hegazy on Monday held talks in Cairo with British defense-intelligence chief of Philip Osborn.

The two men discussed means of bolstering bilateral military cooperation and information exchanges between the armed forces of both countries, Egyptian military spokesman Tamer al-Refai said in a statement issued after the meeting.

The meeting, he added, had also tackled recent developments in the Middle East region.

Al-Refai did not specify when Hegazy had arrived in the Egyptian capital or how long he planned to stay.

Within the past two years, Hegazy has paid three separate visits to the U.K., where he held talks with British officials aimed at bolstering regional security and promoting bilateral military cooperation.
