Egypt concludes joint military exercise with Russia

ISTANBUL (AA) - Egypt on Saturday concluded a joint naval military exercise with Russia in the Mediterranean.

The Friendship Bridge 4 exercise took place in the territorial waters of the Northern Fleet in the Mediterranean, the Egyptian army said in a statement.

The army said the exercise came “in light of the growing relations of military cooperation between Egypt and Russia, and the exchange of experience in a way to secure theaters of naval operations against various hostilities."

The training, which began on Monday, was the fourth edition of the military exercises between the two countries. The first edition of the training started in 2015 in the Mediterranean. It was followed by another one in December 2019, and a third in November 2020, which took place in Novorossiysk and the Black Sea Fleet's naval training ground.
