CAIRO (AA) - An Egyptian court on Tuesday jailed 43 people for life in connection with violence in 2011 following the ouster of autocrat Hosni Mubarak in a popular uprising.
The court also slapped the defendants with a $1 million fine, a judicial source said on condition of anonymity because he was unauthorized to speak to media.
The court also sentenced nine minors to 10 years in prison each, one to five years and acquitted 92 others, the source said.
The verdicts are still subject to appeal.
The violence dates back to late 2011 when clashes between protesters and security forces left at least 18 people dead and scores injured.
