Egypt police kill 2 militants in shootout

CAIRO (AA) – Two militants were killed in a shootout in northern Egypt on Saturday, according to the country's interior ministry.

In a statement, the ministry said the two had opened fire on security forces during a raid on their hideout in the Nile Delta city of Tanta.

It linked the two to Hasm and Liwa al-Thawra militant groups, which the government ties to the Muslim Brotherhood movement.

According to the statement, two machine guns and ammunition were seized during the raid.

Last month, more than 45 people were killed in two church attacks claimed by Daesh terrorist group in Tanta and the coastal city of Alexandria.
