Egypt police kill 6 in shootout

CAIRO (AA) - Six members of the Muslim Brotherhood group were killed in an exchange of fire with Egyptian security forces west of Cairo on Tuesday, according to the country’s Interior Ministry.

A ministry statement said police forces raided a hideout in the 6th of October city, west of Cairo, and exchanged fire with the suspects.

The statement said the slain members were preparing to carry out “terrorist” attacks in the country.

The ministry’s narrative could not be verified from an independent source.

The Egyptian authorities have blacklisted the Brotherhood in 2013, following the overthrow of democratically elected president Mohamed Morsi in a coup.
