Egyptian president, Prince Charles meet in Cairo

CAIRO, Egypt (AA) - Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Prince Charles met in Cairo on Thursday to discuss a range of issues, including combating terrorism, strengthening values such as tolerance and coexistence.

Al-Sisi received the Prince of Wales and his wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall in the capital, according to a statement by the Egyptian Presidency.

The Egyptian president stressed the importance of strengthening national institutions in the region suffering from crises to fill the vacuum that has caused terrorism to grow and spread to the rest of the world.

Charles said his country attaches importance to strengthening cooperation with Egypt in the fight against terrorism and extremism.

They also touched on strengthening coordination on climate change and Egypt hosting the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) in 2022.

Charles and Camilla arrived in Cairo early Thursday for a two-day visit.
