Erdogan begins two-day visit to Serbia

Turkish president to meet Serbian leaders, oversee trade deals

BELGRADE, Serbia (AA) - President Recep Tayyip Erdogan began a two-day official visit to Serbia on Tuesday.

Arriving on Monday evening after a one-day official visit to Ukraine, Erdogan will spend Tuesday and Wednesday in the Balkan country.

A high-level delegation led by the Turkish leader was welcomed by President Aleksandar Vucic and Prime Minister Ana Brnabic as well as cabinet ministers at Nikola Tesla Airport in Belgrade.

During the visit, Erdogan will be accompanied by eight Turkish ministers and nearly 200 businesspeople.

The visit is expected to be dominated by trade deals and economic talks. The two leaders are also expected to attend the Turkey-Serbia Business Forum.

Erdogan is scheduled to visit the Damad Ali Pasha Tomb in Belgrade Fortress, an Ottoman structure which is undergoing renovation by a Turkish development agency.

Later on Wednesday, Erdogan will go to the southern Muslim-majority city of Novi Pazar, accompanied on a walkabout by Vucic.

The two men will also hold a meeting with mayors of other cities in the region.

After the signing ceremony, Vucic and Erdogan will walk through the main street of Novi Pazar to meet the residence.

Erdogan is expect to return Ankara later on Wednesday.
