Erdogan to speak on Khashoggi at G20 press conference

On Oct. 2 last year, Jamal Khashoggi was killed by Saudi operatives in country’s consulate in Istanbul

ANKARA (AA) – Turkish president will address recent developments regarding the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi during his press conference in G20 Leaders' Summit, country's communications director said on Saturday.
Fahrettin Altun, in a Twitter post, commented on President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s activities at G20 Leaders’ Summit held in Osaka, Japan.
“The President will also address the most recent developments regarding the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, including the [UN Special Rapporteur] Agnes Callamard report, in his closing statement,” Altun said, referring to the upcoming press conference.
In the report, Callamard said she found "credible evidence" to further probe the liability of Saudi officials in Khashoggi's killing, including Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman.
He added: “President Erdogan held tête-à-tête meetings with world leaders, including U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, in the margins of this year’s summit. He will reflect on those meetings at today’s press conference.”
In addition, Altun congratulated Japan for hosting "this successful and timely event, which concentrated on trade wars and protectionism" among other topics on the agenda.
Khashoggi was killed and dismembered by a group of Saudi operatives shortly after he entered the country's consulate in Istanbul on Oct. 2 last year.
Riyadh offered various, conflicting narratives to explain his disappearance before acknowledging he was murdered in the diplomatic building while seeking to shift blame for his death on a botched rendition operation being carried out by rogue agents.
Khashoggi's body has not been recovered, and the Kingdom has remained silent on its whereabouts.
