Erdogan voices support for mothers protesting PKK
Turkish President Erdogan says government does its best to eliminate terrorists
By Sena Guler
ANKARA (AA) - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan voiced on Sunday his support for the mothers protesting against the PKK terrorists in the southeast Turkey.
Speaking during the meeting with imam hatip students in eastern Malatya province, Erdogan said the government does its best to eliminate the terrorists.
Number of families in the southeastern Diyarbakir province launched a sit-in protest outside the provincial office of a Turkish opposition Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) -- long accused by the government of having links to the PKK terror group.
The mothers -- who claim their children were kidnapped by the PKK affiliates -- want to save their children from hands of the terrorist group.
In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- has been responsible for the deaths of some 40,000 people, including women, children and infants.
