Ethiopia issues security high alert after rally attack

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia (AA) - The Ethiopian government on Wednesday issued a security high alert for citizens after a bomb hit a rally in capital Addis Ababa last week.

In a statement published in several local media outlets, Communication Affairs Minister Ahmed Shide said that the perpetrators of the bombing may launch multiple attacks in the future.

“They saw their attempt, however deadly, foiled by the people before their eyes, and they might be making similar attempts,” he said.

The bombing last Saturday on a rally led by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed killed two people and injured more than 150, of whom the condition of four is critical.
