EU: Annual inflation stands at 1.3% in November

Italy, Portugal both saw lowest annual inflation rate with 0.2% while Romania had highest with 3.8%

ANKARA (AA) - Consumer prices in the EU rose 1.3% year-on-year this November, the bloc's statistical authority announced Wednesday.

The 28-member bloc's annual inflation rate last month was up from 1.1% in October and down from 2% a year ago.

Compared to the previous month, annual inflation in November fell in five member states, stayed stable in two, and rose in 20.

The lowest annual rates were seen in Italy and Portugal (both 0.2%), and Belgium (0.4%) while the highest annual rates were in Romania (3.8%), Hungary (3.4%), Slovakia (3.2%), and Czechia (3.0%).

Since 2014, the lowest annual inflation rate in the EU was in January 2015 at minus 0.5% -- when prices were in fact dropping -- and the highest was seen in October 2018, 2.3%.
