EU denounces Russia for placing entry bans on EU officials

‘This decision lacks any legal justification and transparency and will meet an appropriate response,’ EU says

ISTANBUL (AA) - The European Union on Friday denounced a Russian decision to place travel restrictions to Russia on representatives from the bloc.

“The European Union deplores the decision by Russian authorities, announced on Friday, to ban an unknown number of representatives of EU Member States and institutions from entry into Russia,” a EU spokesperson said in a statement.

“This decision lacks any legal justification and transparency and will meet an appropriate response. With it, Russia continues to fuel a climate of tensions in Europe instead of contributing to de-escalation,” it added.
