Euro area production in construction up 1.9% in February

ANKARA (AA) - Production in the construction sector increased 1.9% in the euro area and 1.1% in the EU during February, from the previous month, the bloc’s statistical office said on Monday.

This, however, showed a slowdown in construction production from the previous month when it rose 3.9% in the euro area and 3.7% in the EU during January.

On an annual basis, the production in the construction sector increased 9.4% in the euro area and 8.6% in the EU during February of this year, compared to the same month of last year.

The highest monthly rises in production in construction were seen in Hungary with a 13.3% gain. It was followed by Slovenia at 8.4% and Austria at 5.3%.

The largest monthly declines were observed in Sweden with 7%, followed by Poland with a 6% decrease, and Germany with a 0.7% contraction.
