Euro area unemployment rate stands at 6.8% in February

ANKARA (AA) - The euro area unemployment rate decreased to 6.8% in February, down from January's revised figure of 6.9%, the EU statistical office announced on Thursday.

The number of jobless people in the euro area fell by 181,000 from a month ago, Eurostat said in a statement.

The Eurozone unemployment rate was 8.2% in February 2021.

Just over 2.1 million people under the age of 25 were unemployed in the euro area, bringing the youth unemployment rate in February to 14%.

The unemployment rate for women was constant at 7.2% last month while it dropped to 6.6% for men.

In the EU, the unemployment rate slipped to 6.2% in February, down from 6.3% a month ago and from 7.5% a year ago.

Some 13.3 million people were jobless in the bloc as of February, down by 221,000 month-on-month.
