ANKARA (AA) - Arsenal, Real Madrid, Union Berlin, Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain claimed victories to see out the weekend at the summit of Europe’s top leagues.

In England, the Gunners brushed aside Brentford 3-0 in an away game with strikes from William Saliba, Gabriel Jesus, and Fabio Vieira.

Mikel Arteta’s side lead the Premier League table with 18 points in seven matches, followed closely by champions Manchester City and London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, both on 17 points.

City thumped 10-man Wolves 3-0 on Saturday, while Spurs thrashed struggling Leicester City 6-2 thanks to a second-half hat trick by South Korean star Son Heung-min.

- Real claim derby honors

Real Madrid hung on for a 2-1 away derby win against Atletico Madrid on Sunday.

Strikes from Rodrygo and Federico Valverde gave the defending champions a two-goal advantage heading into the break.

Mario Hermoso scored for Atletico in the 83rd minute to set up a nervy finish at the Metropolitano Stadium.

However, hopes for an Atletico comeback were dashed when Hermoso was sent off in the first minute of stoppage time.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side have made a flawless start to their La Liga campaign, taking the maximum possible 18 points from six matches.

Archrivals Barcelona, who are second with 16 points, kept on the pressure with a comfortable 3-0 home win over Elche as Polish star Robert Lewandowski grabbed a brace.

Real Betis are in the third spot with 15 points.

- Union Berlin top Bundesliga standings

This season’s surprise package Union Berlin have started the new week top of the German Bundesliga pile.

Goals from Jordan and Sheraldo Becker gave them a 2-0 home win against Wolfsburg, taking their season tally to 17 points in seven games.

Borussia Dortmund are second with 15 points after a 1-0 derby victory over Schalke 04, followed by Freiburg on 14 points.

Defending champions Bayern Munich were stunned by Augsburg on Saturday, with a strike by former Fenerbahce forward Mergim Berisha condemning them to a 1-0 defeat.

Bayern Munich are currently fifth in the Bundesliga with 12 points.

- Napoli on Serie A summit

In the Italian Serie A, leaders Napoli handed AC Milan their first defeat of the season on Sunday.

An action-packed second half at the San Siro saw Matteo Politano draw first blood for Napoli from the penalty spot.

French striker Olivier Giroud leveled the game for Milan, before Giovanni Simeone headed in the winner about 10 minutes from time.

The loss leaves AC Milan in the fifth spot with 14 points.

With 17 points in seven games, Napoli are tied on points with Atalanta but lead the table on goal difference.

Atalanta were also victorious over the weekend, beating Jose Mourinho’s Roma 1-0 thanks to a 35th-minute strike by Giorgio Scalvini.

A major shock in Serie A came on Sunday when giants Juventus were stunned by Monza, who claimed a 1-0 home win with a goal from Danish forward Christian Gytkjaer.

Juventus are languishing in eighth place with 10 points.

- Messi fires PSG to victory

An early strike from Lionel Messi was enough for PSG to bag three points against Olympique Lyon in Sunday’s Ligue 1 fixture.

Unbeaten in the league, PSG are top of the standings with 22 points in eight matches.

Their main challengers Olympique Marseille slipped up on the weekend, drawing 1-1 at home against Rennes, and are now second with 20 points.

Lorient complete the chasing pack, just a point shy of Marseille with 19 in eight games.
