European markets lower as EU inflation hit 5.2% in November

Germany's DAX 30 loses 0.67%, France's CAC 40 falls 1.12%

ANKARA (AA) - European stock markets closed lower on Friday, except London stock exchange, as inflation in the EU hit 5.2% in November.

London's FTSE 100 gained 9 points, or 0.13%, to end the day at 7,269.

The STOXX Europe 600, which includes around 90% of the market capitalization of the European market in 17 countries, fell 2.66 points, or 0.56%, to 473.90.

Germany's DAX 30 lost 104 points, or 0.67%, to close at 15,531, while France's CAC 40 fell 78 points, or 1.12%, to 6,926.

Italy's FTSE MIB 30 decreased 171 points, or 0.64%, to end the day at 26,611. Spain's IBEX 35 declined 68 points, or 0.82%, to finish at 8,311.

Annual inflation rate in the EU hit 5.2% in November, the statistical office Eurostat announced earlier. In the eurozone, annual inflation increased to 4.9% in November.
