European stocks close up except UK with GDP gains

Annually, GDP increases 2.1% in euro area, 2.4% in EU in 3rd quarter

ANKARA (AA) - European stocks closed higher Tuesday, except the UK exchange, with gains in gross domestic product (GDP).

The STOXX Europe 600, which includes around 90% of the market capitalization of the European market in 17 countries, was up 1.58 points, or 0.37%, at 434.44.

Germany’s DAX 30 rose 65 points, or 0.46%, to finish the second trading day of the week at 14,378.

France’s CAC 40 was the best performer of the day, soaring 32 points, or 0.49%, to end at 6,641.

Italy’s FTSE MIB rose 103 points, or 0.42%, to 24,699 at the closing bell. Spain’s IBEX 35 gained 21 points, or 0.27%, to 8,188.

The UK’s FTSE 100, on the other hand, shed 15 points, or 0.21%, to close at 7,369.

GDP increased by 0.2% both in the euro area and in the EU in the third quarter of this year compared to the previous quarter, according to estimates from Eurostat, the EU statistical office.

On an annual basis, GDP increased by 2.1% in the euro area and by 2.4% in the EU in the third quarter of 2022 compared to the same quarter of last year.
