EU's goods exports up 13.5% in January- September

With goods exports worth $1.8T, bloc posts $105B surplus, shows Eurostat data

ANKARA (AA) – The EU exported goods worth €1.6 trillion ($1.8 trillion) in January-September, up 13.5% year-on-year, the bloc’s statistical office said on Monday.

The block saw imports rising to €1.5 trillion ($1.7 trillion), marking an 18.2% rise year-on-year in the nine month-period and growing a surplus of €92 billion ($105 billion).

Germany was the top exporter of goods – both in trade within the union and with the rest of the world – with €1 trillion ($1.1 trillion).

It was followed by the Netherlands with €510 billion ($582 billion) and France with €360 billion ($411 billion).

The US, the UK, China, Switzerland, Russia, Turkey, Norway, Japan, South Korea, and India were the bloc’s top trade partners in January- September.

Turkey's exports to the EU countries rose 25.2% to reach €56.2 billion and its imports totaled €57.5 billion, up 16.4% year-on-year in the same period.
