Explosion rocks chemical industry site in Germany
Residents in Leverkusen urged to stay indoors, close windows over fears of poisonous fumes
BERLIN (AA) – A huge explosion rocked a chemical facility in northwestern Germany on Tuesday.
Massive plumes of dark smoke billowed from Chempark, an industrial park for chemicals factories, in the city of Leverkusen.
Authorities warned residents of several districts to stay indoors and keep windows shut over fears of poisonous fumes.
The cause of the explosion was not immediately clear.
