F.Bahce to face Fatih Karagumruk, aiming for home win

Yellow Canaries aim to break their winless run, while Karagumruk want to maintain lead at top of Turkish Super Lig

ISTANBUL (AA) - Fenerbahce is set this Saturday to take on Fatih Karagumruk in match day four of the Turkish top-tier football division.

Both Istanbul sides are eyeing victory to stay in the title race, with the game kicking off at 7 p.m. local time (1600GMT) at Ulker Stadium.

At the end of week three, Super Lig leaders Fatih Karagumruk had seven points, while Fenerbahce are in eighth place with five points.

Fenerbahce beat Caykur Rizespor away in the first week, but then the Yellow Canaries were held to goalless draws against Hatayspor and Galatasaray.

Fatih Karagumruk started the season with a victory over Yeni Malatyaspor, managing to get three points.

The Istanbul side held to a draw with Gaziantep FK in the second week and then beat reigning champions Medipol Basaksehir with a 2-0 score on match day three.

Fenerbahce's injured midfielder Nabil Dirar is likely to miss the game. Dirar was not seen attending the club training today.

- Week 4 to kick off Friday

The opening game of match day four will be held at Ankara's Eryaman Stadium, with MKE Ankaragucu facing Hes Kablo Kayserispor.

The match will begin on Ankaragucu's home ground at 8 p.m. local time (1700GMT).

With only one point to its name, the Ankara side are in 16th place, while Kayserispor have three points in the 14th spot in the league table.

In another opening match, Gaziantep FK will play against Trabzonspor at home, with the game starting at 8 p.m. local time (1700GMT).

Fifteenth-place Gaziantep FK now has two points, while 10th place-side Trabzonspor has four points so far.

F. Karagumruk are at the top of the league with seven points, followed by Aytemiz Alanyaspor, Galatasaray, and Fraport TAV Antalyaspor and Atakas Hatayspor tied with equal points.

All games will be played in empty stadiums in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
