Five killed in spate of Baghdad bombings
No group claims responsibility, but Iraqi authorities typically blame Daesh for seemingly random attacks on civilians

BAGHDAD (AA) – Five people were killed in three separate bomb blasts that shook Iraqi capital Baghdad on Friday, according to a local police source.
Baghdad Police Colonel Salem al-Nuuman told Anadolu Agency that two people were killed -- and 11 injured -- when a bomb went off near a local market in Baghdad’s southern Al-Yousefiyah district.
Another two people were killed -- and another six injured -- when a second explosion tore through a market in the city’s southeastern Al-Nahrawan neighborhood, al-Nuuman said.
A fifth person was killed in Baghdad’s western Al-Ghazliya district, the police officer added, by a bomb that had apparently been planted in his vehicle.
While no group has claimed responsibility, the Iraqi authorities typically blame the Daesh terrorist group -- which overran much of the country in mid-2014 -- for attacks on civilians.
