Floriade Horticultural Expo 2022 kicks off in Netherlands

ALMERE, Netherlands (AA) - The Floriade Horticultural Expo 2022, which is held every 10 years, kicked off in the Netherlands on Thursday.

More than 400 garden and landscape designs from around the world are exhibited at the 60-hectare fair in Almere.

Growing green cities is the theme of this year's fair, which is being attended by enterprises focusing on green technologies in agriculture and horticulture.

Among the 33 countries represented at the expo, the gardens of Thailand, Germany, Japan, Belgium, Qatar, China, and Bangladesh get the most visitors.

At the fair, there are also examples of the green urbanization plan on display, such as a playground made of wooden materials instead of plastic, and houses made entirely of biological waste.

Future agriculture methods are introduced in the gardens that showcase sustainability and recycling systems.

After the fair, the expo will be converted into a botanical garden.

The fair, which will continue until Oct. 9, is expected to draw about 2 million visitors.
