Flynn's resignation an internal US matter: Kremlin
US national security advisor resigned over contacts with Russian officials, in controversy touching on US election

ANKARA (AA) - Russia Tuesday declined to comment on the resignation of U.S. President Donald Trump’s national security adviser over controversial contacts with Russian officials.
"We do not want to make any comment. This is the internal affairs of Americans and the Trump administration," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was quoted as saying by Russia's official TASS news agency.
He added: "It is not our business."
Michael Flynn resigned late Monday amid controversy regarding his communications with Sergey Kislyak, Russia’s ambassador to the U.S.
Reports emerged last week that Flynn discussed U.S. sanctions against Russia with Kislyak before Trump took office, and then reportedly misled administration officials about his contacts.
The controversy has also raised questions over contacts between Trump’s team over the U.S. presidential election, which Moscow is accused of meddling in.
Earlier Monday, Kellyanne Conway, a top Trump aide, said in a television interview, "Gen. Flynn does enjoy the full confidence of the president,” marking a stark departure from days of noncommittal statements made by White House representatives.
