Football: Barca, Real drop points ahead of El Clasico

La Liga title contenders Barcelona and Real Madrid fail to win on weekend ahead of El Clasico

ANKARA (AA) - Spanish first football division 'La Liga' title contenders Barcelona and Real Madrid failed to win on weekend ahead of the 'El Clasico' match.

Barcelona drew 2-2 over Real Sociedad in an away game as Real Madrid rescued one point with Karim Benzema's last minute goal over Valencia, 1-1.

Both Barcelona and Real Madrid collected 35 points in 16 league matches, as Barcelona top La Liga with goal difference.

Barcelona and Real Madrid will meet in the famous 'El Clasico' showdown on Dec.18 at Nou Camp.

Sevilla lost to Villareal 2-1 at home, sitting in third place with 31 points.


- Title race heats up in Bundesliga

RB Leipzig jumped to the top of the Bundesliga at the end of the 15th week after they defeated Fortuna Dusseldorf 3-0 at Merkur Spiel-Arena.

RB Leipzig recorded their sixth straight win in the Bundesliga as they collected 33 points.

Borussia Monchengladbach dropped to second spot following their 2-1 away loss to Wolfsburg, sitting two points behind the leaders RB Leipzig.

In other matches, Borussia Dortmund hammered Mainz 4-0 in an away match for their third consecutive Bundesliga victory.

Borussia Dortmund in the third place with 29 points.

Schalke 04 beat Eintracht Frankfurt 1-0 at home, gaining 28 points in the fourth spot.

Bayern Munich toppled Werder Bremen 6-1 after they lost two matches in a row at the league.

The Bavarians now in fifth place with 27 points.


- Paris Saint-Germain remain comfortable at top of Ligue 1

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) easy past Saint-Etienne with 4-0 in an away match to record their fifth consecutive victory in the French 'Ligue 1'.

PSG are remain comfortable at the top of the table with 42 points, having seven points advantage ahead of Olympique Marseille.

Olympique Marseille's six match winning streak ended after they drew with Metz 1-1 in an away match.

Lille defeated Montpellier 2-1 at home to earn their fourth straight win.

They currently in third place with 31 points.
