ANKARA (AA) - Fenerbahce defeated Akhisarspor 2-1 and guaranteed a place in the next season of Spor Toto Super Lig, Turkey's premier football division.
Visitors Akhisarspor became the first team to relegate to the lower league.
In the 32nd match day, ‘Yellow Canaries’ found the leading goal in the 28th minute with Spanish striker Roberto Soldado.
Midfielder Nabil Dirar scored two minutes later and Fenerbahce led the game 2-0.
Although Akhisarspor scored before halftime, they could not escape relegation as the match ended 2-1.
Fenebahce have spent a nightmarish season in the Super Lig as they could only get 40 points in 32 league matches.
The 'Yellow Canaries' are now in the 10th place in league standings, escaped the relegation zone which they were close for weeks.
