Football: Results in top 5 European leagues

ANKARA (AA) - Manchester City beat Leicester City 3-1 at home, bringing the Foxes' nine-match unbeaten run in the Premier League to a halt.

Manchester City's goals were scored by Riyad Mahrez, Ilkay Gundogan (p), and Gabriel Jesus, while Jamie Vardy was the only scorer for Leicester City.

Leicester City are still in second spot with 39 points despite the loss, while Manchester City boosted their points to 38 to take them to third place.

Liverpool still sit at the top of the league with 49 points though they did not play a Premier League match this weekend due to their 2019 FIFA Club World Cup final match on Saturday.

In another highly anticipated Week 18 match, Chelsea defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in a London derby.

Willian's double goals brought victory to Chelsea at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as Chelsea secured 4th place on the table.

Tottenham collected 26 points to be in 7th spot.

Watford gained a surprise victory over Manchester United as they beat the Red Devils 2-0 at home.

Man U are in 8th place with 25 points, while Watford are still at the bottom of the Premier League with 12 points.

Arsenal drew goalless with Everton at Goodison Park.

The Gunners are in 11th place with 23 points, while Everton are currently sitting in 15th place with 19 points.

- Real Madrid drop critical 2 points in title race

In Spanish La Liga, leaders Barcelona hammered Alaves 4-1 at Nou Camp.

Another title contender, Real Madrid, drew goalless with Athletic Bilbao at home, dropping 2 critical points for the title race.

Barcelona maintained their lead at the top of La Liga with 39 points with Real Madrid nipping at their heels with 37.

Sevilla beat Mallorca 2-0 in an away match, while Atletico Madrid defeated Real Betis 2-1 at Benito Villamarin.

Inter Milan hammered Genoa 4-0 to remain at the top of Italy's Serie A, while Juventus beat Sampdoria 2-1 in a hard-fought away match.

Leaders Inter collected 42 points at the end of Week 17 as Juventus’ points were unchanged in second place.

Lazio are in third place with 36 points.

Roma raised their points to 35 after beating Fiorentina 4-1 in an away match.

- Bundesliga title race heats up

RB Leipzig beat Augsburg 3-1 with a comeback to continue their lead at the top of Bundesliga at the end of Week 17.

Borussia Monchengladbach boosted their points to 35 to put them in second place after they drew goalless with Hertha Berlin in an away match.

Bayern Munich beat Wolfsburg 2-0 at home putting them in third place with 33 points.

Another title contender, Bundesliga Borussia Dortmund, were defeated by Hoffenheim 2-1 in away match.

Leaders PSG are followed by Olympique Marseille with 38 points and Rennes with 33 points.
