France detains two far-right activists

ANKARA (AA) - French security personnel have detained two far-right activists, media reports said Wednesday.

The activists were discussing purchasing arms on the instant messaging application Telegram, according to the Cnews news outlet.

The General Directorate of Internal Security apprehended the activists in southwestern Montauban and Gironde provinces.

Cnews also reported that a preliminary investigation was initiated by the National Anti-Terrorist Prosecutor's Office against the activists for forming a terrorist organization and "direct provocation through an online means of communication to an act of terrorism."

In searches at the activists’ residences, dozens of weapons and ammunition as well as equipment for making explosives were discovered.
