TBILISI (AA) - Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili on Wednesday stepped down over his “disagreements” with the party leader and members.
Kvirikashvili announced his resignation in a news conference held in state house in capital Tbilisi.
He noted that he disagreed with the party leader Bidzina Ivanishvili on some issues in recent months.
Kvirikashvili, 50, had been serving as Georgian Prime Minister since December 30, 2015.
As per the Georgian constitution, the ruling party must submit a new cabinet list and a new prime minister candidate to President Giorgi Margvelashvili within seven days.
Margvelashvili then has a further seven days to send the new cabinet list to the Georgian Parliament.
