Germany hammer Italy 5-2 in UEFA Nations League

Germans placed 2nd in League A Group 3 while England at bottom in standings

ANKARA (AA) - Germany hammered Italy 5-2 Tuesday in Game 4 of League A Group 3 in the UEFA Nations League.

Joshua Kimmich drew first blood for Germany in the 10th minute at Borussia Park.

Before the end of the first half, Ilkay Gundogan scored from a penalty kick in the 49th minute.

German veteran Thomas Muller made it 3-0 in the 51st minute.

Timo Werner made a two-minute double salvo by scoring for Germany twice in the 68th and 69th minute.

Wilfried Gnonto took one back for Italy in the 78th minute, and before the match ended, Alessandro Bastoni scored in the 94th minute and made the final score 5-2.

Germany placed second with 6 points while Italy are in third spot with 5 points in the standings.

Hungary shocked England with a 4-0 away victory in the other League A Group 3 match Tuesday.

Roland Sallai scored the first goal for Hungary in the 16th minute at Molineux Stadium in Wolverhampton.

Sallai netted once more in the 70th minute and then 10 minutes later his teammate Zsolt Nagy made it 3-0 for Hungary.

England's John Stones' red card in the 82nd minute wasn't the end of the problems for the Three Lions as Hungary found their fourth goal with Daniel Gazdag in the 89th minute.

Hungary lead the standings with 7 points, while England are anchored to the bottom with 2 points in League A Group 3.
