ANKARA (AA) – Germany's 2022 FIFA World Cup squad was revealed on Thursday, as Borussia Dortmund pair Marco Reus and Mats Hummels will not be in Qatar this winter.

Germany unveiled their 26-man squad for the World Cup on Twitter.

Head coach Hansi Flick called the 2014 World Cup final hero Mario Gotze for the Qatar 2022 campaign, and Borussia Dortmund youngster Youssoufa Moukoko is set for his Germany debut in the World Cup.

Gotze scored the winning goal in extra time, as Germany beat Argentina 1-0 in the 2014 final in Rio De Janeiro.

The 30-year-old Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder last played for Germany in 2017.

A Dortmund forward since 2020, Moukoko, 17, scored six goals in 13 German league appearances this season to draw attention.

Meanwhile, Dortmund midfielder Reus has an ankle problem to miss the Qatar 2022.

He missed another major tournament, as Reus did not play in the 2014 World Cup and EURO 2016 with injury, and missed the EURO 2020 for fatigue.

Reus' teammate at Dortmund, Hummels, who plays as a central defender, is not injured but Flick did not prefer him.

German forward Timo Werner was previously said that he would be out for the World Cup due to ankle injury.

Meanwhile, seven Bayern Munich players will appear for Germany in Qatar.

Germany will face Spain, Costa Rica and Japan in Group E.

The Qatar 2022 will begin on Nov. 20.
