Global climate strikes, environmental protests in November 2022

ANKARA (AA) - Protests and strikes against environmental degradation continued across the globe in November, with demonstrators demanding decisive action to tackle climate change.

Activists and netizens kept up street protests and online campaigns. Events included Fridays for Future's weekly protests and anti-government demonstrations over failing climate policies.

Below is a timeline of protests and demonstrations compiled by Anadolu Agency:

Nov. 1:

- Just Stop Oil activists hold demonstration outside Downing Street in London, demanding the government to halt all new oil and gas licenses and consents.


Nov. 2:

- Environmental group Last Generation sprays orange paint on building in Berlin of Free Democratic Party (FDP), a partner in Germany’s ruling coalition, demanding concrete steps towards use of fossil fuels.


Nov. 4:

- Climate activists and environmental protesters continue to raise awareness about climate change during the first Fridays for Future strike of the month, with nonprofit groups supporting the efforts.


Nov. 5:

- Climate activists gather around Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport to protest against environmental pollution, holding banners saying "Stop Ecocide."


Nov. 6:

- A group of animal rights activists hold demonstrations against consumption of animal products outside the International Convention Center in Egypt, which is hosting the UN climate change conference COP27.


Nov. 9.

- A group of climate activists hold a demonstration in an attempt to raise awareness on climate change by climbing to the top of the historical Brandenburg Gate in the German capital Berlin.

- Environmental activists continue their protests at the UN climate change conference COP27 in Egypt, demanding world leaders to take ambitious steps against climate change.


Nov. 11:

- On the second Fridays for Future strike in November, climate activists and environmental protesters continue to raise awareness about climate change and environmental issues.


Nov. 12:

- A group of people in the Egyptian resort town of Sharm El-Sheikh hold demonstrations and chant slogans demanding "climate justice" for Africa.

- Meanwhile in Spain, climate protesters, NGOs and concerned citizens hold rallies in the capital Madrid, stressing climate change-related problems such as desertification.


Nov. 14:

- A group of environmental activists gather outside the venue of the COP27 climate summit in Egypt and call on world leaders to stop wars and the use of fossil fuel.

Nov. 16:

Nov. 18:
