ANKARA (AA) - A group of media representatives from the Republic of Guinea visited Anadolu Agency’s headquarters in the capital Ankara on Thursday.

Mucahit Muhammed Soykan, the agency’s director of Human Resources and Administrative Affairs, welcomed the delegation.

Addressing the delegation, Soykan spoke about the efforts to strengthen the agency’s domestic and foreign operations, especially in Africa.

“As Anadolu Agency we give priority to Africa, so we are very happy to host you here,” he said.

He said that the agency has been expanding its network in Africa and it is planning to open new offices in Senegal and Nigeria.

The delegation head Mohamed II Camara, who is associated with the state Radio and Television of Guinea, called the visit “significant”.

He noted that they came to Turkey for shooting a documentary on the country.

“We want to show Guinean people the strength of Turkish people…,” Camara said.

He said that he is impressed by Anadolu Agency’s News Academy and its course on war journalism.

Anadolu Agency has 35 offices worldwide and produces news stories in 11 languages.

It currently posts news in Turkish, English, Arabic, French, Kurdish, Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian (BCS), Russian, Albanian, Persian and Macedonian languages.

The agency also plans to launch Spanish and Indonesian service soon.

The Guinean delegation, including media workers from state-run and private media organizations, had arrived in Turkey on Sept. 12 to shoot a documentary on Turkey.

Their program is being coordinated by the Directorate of Turkey’s Press and Information and supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism Affairs.
