Gunmen attack Lebanon’s minister convoy, kill 2 guards

BEIRUT (AA) - Two bodyguards were killed and another person wounded when gunmen opened fire on the Lebanon’s displaced affairs minister's convoy, according to local sources on Sunday.

An armed attack occurred between the areas of Kabrshmoun and Bsatin in Aley district, which led to the death of two of the State Minister for Displaced Affairs Saleh al-Gharib’s bodyguards and injury of one Progressive Socialist Party member, the NNA reported.

“We were on our way in the area of Kabrshmoun and were surprised by a score of bullets," told al-Gharib to the NNA.

He added that the incident "was an armed ambush and a clear assassination attempt."

Concerning civil peace and the unity of the Druze and their solidarity, he called for self-restraint in wake of the bloodshed that occurred.

"We do not resort to the use of blood in politics,” he noted.
