Hatayspor beat Besiktas as Weghorst scores season's fastest goal yet

Quickest goal clocked in at just 31 seconds at New Hatay stadium

ISTANBUL (AA) - Atakas Hatayspor captured a 2-1 win over Istanbul’s Besiktas Monday on matchday 11 of the Turkish Super Lig.

Wout Weghorst broke the deadlock with a close-range finish as he scored for Besiktas 31 seconds after the start of the match at New Hatay stadium in southern Türkiye.

The Dutch striker’s goal was the fastest so far this season in the Super Lig.

Atakas Hatayspor leveled the match when striker Ze Luis put a firm header back across the goal in the 50th minute, assisted by Kamil Ahmet Corekci.

In the 90th minute, Kaan Kanak had a right-footed effort outside the box to score the winner.

With the match, Hatayspor jumped to the number 15 spot with 10 points while Besiktas stayed in fifth place with 19 points.
