Health of ex-Turkish opposition party leader improves

ANKARA (AA) - The health of former chairman of main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) Deniz Baykal is improving, Ankara University Rector Prof. Erkan Ibis said on Friday.

Baykal, who is also a lawmaker from Antalya province, is under treatment at Ankara University Ibni Sina Hospital.

Speaking to reporters, Ibis said: ''Mr. Baykal’s can now move his hands and feet, and can also write.

“He is undergoing physical therapy and rehabilitation every day. In short, Mr. Baykal has come out of intensive care. This is a good result for us and good news for all."

İbis said the lawmaker has been getting treatment at the hospital for the last 40 days.

“Baykal’s general condition is good and he is conscious. At this point, the issue of taking him abroad for physical therapy and rehabilitation is up to the family…,'' he said.
