High-level talks between Türkiye, Qatar to be held in Istanbul

ANKARA (AA) - The eighth meeting of the Türkiye-Qatar Supreme Strategic Committee will be held in Istanbul on Friday, the Turkish presidency said on Thursday.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani will co-chair the meeting, where all aspects of the bilateral relations will be discussed.

Potential steps aimed at deepening and advancing the bilateral cooperation will also be addressed during the meeting, according to a presidency statement.

"It is also expected at the talks that views on current regional and global matters as well as the bilateral relations will be exchanged with Qatar, Türkiye’s strategic partner," the statement added.

The Supreme Strategic Committee was established in 2014 as a bilateral mechanism to form the institutional basis of high-level dialogue and cooperation between the two countries.
