ANKARA (AA) - A Turkish amputee footballer said on Thursday, the International Day of Disabled Persons, that although he faces many difficulties, he never gave up on his dreams.

"I earn my living through sports... instead of being offended by life and staying home, one can continue professionally," Baris Telli, who lost right leg in an accident at age four, told Anadolu Agency.

The 31-year-old is part of Turkey's national amputee football team, and also works as a gym instructor.

Telli said he has fulfilled most of his dreams but wants to win the 2022 World Cup trophy for Turkey. "Never give up on your dreams."

He helped his nation win the 2017 European Amputee Football Championship against England.

The day is observed on Dec. 3 every year to promote full and equal participation of persons with disabilities in all aspects of society and development. This year's theme is “Building Back Better: toward a disability-inclusive, accessible and sustainable post COVID-19 World."
