Indonesia: Daesh terrorist to serve 11 years in prison

Nur Solihin, his wife and another conspirator were planning to attack presidential palace in capital Jakarta last year

YOGYAKARTA, Indonesia (AA) - A local court in capital Jakarta on Wednesday sentenced a Daesh-linked militant to 11 years in prison, for leading a plot to attack the presidential palace.

Nur Solihin’s lawyer Kamsi, who like many Indonesians uses just one name, told Anadolu Agency over the phone that his client had been in jail for nine months since the arrest, which will be reduced from the total sentence.

Solihin, his wife Dian Yulia Novi, and Agus Supriyadi were arrested in Jakarta last December, a day before they had planned to stage a terror attack at the state palace.

Co-conspirator Supriyadi received six years in prison during the hearing.

Syafrudin Ainur Rafiek, the judge, in his remarks said Solihin had been convinced to carry out the terror plot by Bahrun Naim, a Daesh militant currently in Syria.

“Solihin was told to look for a bride, who could execute and assemble a bomb,” Rafiek said as quoted by local news website Detik.com.

Novi, who had just given birth to a son, was sentenced to 7.5 years in prison last month.

Solihin is a member of the Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) terrorist group that pledges allegiance to Daesh.
