Int'l diplomats, academics visit Anadolu Agency HQ

Delegation is in Turkey as part of scholarship program by Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities

ANKARA (AA) - An international delegation, who is in Turkey as part of a program under the auspices of Turkish presidency, paid a visit to Anadolu Agency’s headquarters in the capital Ankara on Tuesday.

Mehmet Ozturk, the agency’s foreign language services editor-in-chief, received the delegation of diplomats, public officials, researchers and academicians from 18 countries -- including Pakistan, Afghanistan, Somalia, Serbia and Egypt.

The group is in Turkey as part of a 10-month scholarship program by the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB), which provides Turkish language education to the participants.

The program aims to introduce Turkey to the participants and establish sustainable relations with them.

Briefing the visitors about the agency’s activities, Ozturk said Anadolu Agency publishes 1,650 news stories in 13 languages daily.

He said Anadolu Agency will be among the top five news agencies across the world by 2020. “We have the power [to realize this goal],” Ozturk stressed.
