TEHRAN (AA) – Iran on Monday executed a person accused of spying and locating Iranian general Qasem Soleimani, who was killed in a US strike in Iraq.
The Iranian judiciary said Mahmoud Mousavi Majd was executed after he was accused of spying for Israeli and American intelligence services, Mossad and CIA, and informing them of the location of Soleimani, the head of Quds Force of the Revolutionary Guards.
Majd was charged on June 9 of providing intelligence information to the CIA and Mossad on the Iranian armed forces in exchange for money.
On Jan. 3, Soleimani was killed in a US drone attack near Baghdad airport. The deputy head of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces (Hashad al-Shaabi) Abu Mahdi al-Mohandis was also killed in the airstrike.
The US has repeatedly said that Soleimani was responsible for attacks targeting US soldiers in Iraq and other areas.
