TEHRAN (AA) – Iranian Revolutionary Guards have killed five members of the PJAK group, an offshoot of the terrorist PKK organization, in northwestern Iran, according to a Monday statement.
"A five-member terrorist cell affiliated to PJAK was liquidated in Iran’s northwestern Sardasht region," the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) said in a statement issued Monday.
According to the IRGC, two of the slain terrorists had been responsible for the killing of two Iranian Basij paramilitary personnel and an engineer last month.
A PKK offshoot, the PJAK sporadically carries out hit-and-run attacks on Iranian targets, after which they retreat to their lairs in Iraq and Turkey.
