Iraq: Nearly 20 killed in Baghdad hospital fire

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AA) - Nearly 20 people died in a fire at a hospital where coronavirus patients were being treated in Baghdad, according to sources on Saturday.

Dozens of patients' relatives reportedly suffered injuries because of a lack of oxygen due to intense smoke from the fire at Ibn al-Hatip Hospital.

The cause of the fire is not known but the Iraqi Civil Defense Directorate said extinguishing work in the hospital was complete and an investigation was initiated.
