ERBIL, Iraq (AA) – The electoral commission in northern Iraq’s Kurdish region on Wednesday postponed the results of the parliamentary election until reviewing all complaints.

“We do not want to rush in the announcement before settling all complaints,” commission chief Handarin Mohamed told a press conference in the regional capital Erbil.

He said a total of 425 complaints are being investigated by the electoral commission.

“The results will not be announced before investigating these complaints,” he said, without giving a specific date for announcing the vote results.

Held last week, some 29 parties and coalition had vied for 111 seats in parliament.

The vote was the first to be held in the Kurdish region since the defeat of the Daesh terrorist group last year.

The parliamentary polls are held every four years in the Kurdish region.
