Iraqi court sentences Daesh militant to death
Tuesday’s verdict was issued under Iraq’s anti-terrorism act

BAGHDAD (AA) – An Iraqi criminal court on Tuesday sentenced a senior Daesh militant to death, according to a judicial spokesman.
Tarek Jadoun, a Moroccan, was sentenced to death for his involvement in a number of Daesh attacks, Abdul Sattar Birqdar, a spokesman for the Supreme Judicial Council, said in a statement.
He said Jadoun was among the most wanted foreign Daesh militants by Iraqi authorities.
Tuesday’s verdict was issued under Iraq’s anti-terrorism act.
Late last year, officials in Baghdad declared that Daesh's military presence in Iraq had been all but eliminated. However, it appears the notorious terrorist group still maintains "sleeper cells" in several parts of the country, including oil-rich Kirkuk province.
